Example Time Line of Progression
| Everybody has there own pace, this time line is to give an idea of what to try and achieve in Ju-Jitsu, Along side the belt gradings there are also kata Gradings and courses. In order to be eligible to take your first black belt grading you must have attended at least four courses and passed at least four Kata Gradings. |

Your club instructor will assess your performance and decide when you are suitable to grade, you are expected to make your best efforts during the gradings as a pass is not guaranteed unless you put the techniques you have learnt in to practice on the grading day. |

In their first year most students will achieve the following belts, with 3 months training in between each, Also it is expected at least 1 kata and 1 course have been completed. The Kata and the belts are only awarded following a succeful grading. |

During your second year you should achieve the following belts and have completed your 2nd Kata Grading and attended another course. |

During the third year more time is expected in obtaining higher belts due to their complexity, The brown/white belt can still be preformed after three months, However full brown belt needs six months training, Also in this time you will need to complete another Kata and start on and start on another. Attendance at another course should also take place during this time. |

Training towards your black belt should take 9 months - 1 year to complete, There is a lot to learn for this belt including all previous belts. You will have to of completed four Kata gradings and attended 4 courses before being assessed for your black belt grading. There is also a writen medical exam which must also be passed. |
